Hey y’all! I’m a Southern girl at heart but have grown to love Philadelphia as my second home. For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to work in a capacity that serves and supports women, children, and families. I love helping others recognize their own strength and power and encouraging them reach their potential. This desire led to my study of child and family development at the University of Georgia and social work at the University of Pennsylvania. I have also always been drawn to new moms and babies! Growing up, I remember loving to peek in the windows of the baby nursery any time I happened to be at a hospital. In college I volunteered on the labor and delivery unit of a hospital by providing new parents with information on topics such as child development, basic baby care, and the baby blues. A few years into my career as a social worker, I had the amazing opportunity to coordinate and manage a pregnancy services program for three years at a non-profit agency in Nashville, TN. It was through this work that I learned about the role of doulas, and I discovered my passion for providing education, resources, and emotional support to pregnant women, their partners, and babies. With time I truly felt called to embrace doula work and pursued my maternal support practitioner (doula) training and certification through Bebo Mia, Inc. I realized that my experience as a social worker (particularly in the areas of advocacy, empowerment, social justice, evidence-based practices, connections to resources, and mental health) serves as a strong foundation to my role as a doula! Some of the areas I focus on as a doula include providing education and screening for perinatal mood & anxiety disorders, evidence-based birth options, supporting un-medicated/physiologic birth, and helping fathers feel more prepared for providing birth support. I am also familiar with hypnosis in childbirth and am a Trained Hypnobabies® Hypno-Doula.
More than anything, I want to help you thrive throughout your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience! Check out the services I offer!
